Audio Power Amplifiers
There are plenty of audio power amplifier circuits are available over the net. They give different audio power outputs from a few milliwatts to 1000 watts. All of them amplify the low power input audio signals to such high power audio output signals. Many varieties of amplifiers based on transistors alone to ICs work with different power supply capacities are available. Here I am going to present you a circuit design that uses a combination of transistors and ICs.
IC+Transistor coupled audio power amplifier design
In this circuit design, IC NE5532 acts as a pre-amplifier. Part (a) works as a low signal pre-amplifier, whereas part(b) works as a voltage amplifier. The input audio signal is preamplified and fed to part(b) through a volume control VR1. The amplified signal is fed to T1&T3 transistor drivers. T2 &T4 are audio power output amplifiers that deliver 8W into a 4 ohms load loudspeaker.
The circuit needs +16v &-16V DC for the operation of the IC as well as power transistors. It is important to note that T2 &T4 need proper heatsinks for their operation.
